Does Milk and Honey have animals up for adoption?

We are not an animal shelter. We work to provide a final and forever home to our animals here at the sanctuary. Our goal is to provide a level of care that cannot be given in a normal home. Most of our animals have been through some terrible times and have been from place to place their entire lives, which ends with us at the sanctuary. Occasional exceptions do exist, however. If an animal comes into our care that we believe will have a better life in someones home, we will consider placing that animal with an adoptive family.

Are you open to the public?

We are not currently open to the public. We need some more funds to make that happen. Our goal is to be open for people to come visit us, but a facility that is built to manage this is not inexpensive. If you feel called to help us make a public facility a reality, donate today! Once we are open for visitors, we can launch even bigger projects in education and animal welfare. Be apart of the change and contribute what you can today!

What do volunteers get to do when they sign up to help at the sanctuary?

Our volunteers do a variety of things to help out, and they typically get to pick what they want to do. We need volunteers to help feed and water all of our animals, clean hutches/aquariums/stalls/kennels/etc., help run events, help with handy work around the property, and more. When you sign up to volunteer with us, we want you to be doing what makes you happy! Our volunteer form highlights areas you would or wouldn't want to help out in to make sure you get to have fun while you're spending your time with us. We appreciate that you choose to spend your time with us, and we want you to enjoy yourself while you're here!

Does Milk and Honey have a wildlife rehabilitation center?

Milk and Honey Sanctuary Co. is not currently a wildlife rehab center. We would love to build a rehab center one day but as of right now, we do not have the setup for wildlife care and release. There are many programs and centers for wildlife care in our area though, so if you are currently in possession of any injured wildlife, please contact a wildlife rehabilitation center immediately. If you need help finding one, contact us and we can help guide you in the right direction.

What makes Milk and Honey different than other sanctuaries?

M&H has a strong focus on fostering positive relationships between animals and humans. This means we are taking care of our human supporters just as much as we are taking care of our resident animals. We do a lot of work in education around animal welfare, and we are always working on rebuilding relationships with our animal friends (and people friends) who have been hurt in the past. The life that we give our animals at the sanctuary is one that cannot be given to them in a "normal" home. We go above and beyond to provide the best care we can while keeping up to date with new research and guidelines around all of our different species. Many other organizations focus on education, and plenty work on housing animals, but what we do is a unique combination of the two, benefitting everyone involved.
